Not a big deal, but I've found that sometimes after restarting the computer, the folder contents don't come up when I invoke Finderpop with a click-n-hold or whatever. If I open the Finderpop control panel, then turn if off and on again, all is well.
This is with OS 10.6.8.
Edit: Actaully, I'm finding it's really every time I restart.

The strange thing is it works perfect with the shift-command-option shortcut (where I continuously depress those keys). That wouldn't be so bad, but it's an awkward position to keep depressing keys at. Is it possible to change those shortcut keys to something more practical? Like maybe just the shift key or something like that?

When I invoke Finderpop on large folders, it would be great if I could type a few letters to be able to jump to and highlight the file/folders within the list.
Navigating the list by pressing first letter of file/folder name should work if you quickly type the first, second and third letter to further refine the selection.

I used to be able to simply depress the letter "P" to show preview images while scrolling around with Finderpop within a folder. Now when I do it, it sometimes flashes the preview image for an brief instant, but then closes the Finderpop menu and launches the Mac OS info window as if I had depressed command-i on the item.
If I use the longer keyboard shorcut for preview: "command-shift-option" the preview works as expected every time and shows me previews without the trouble I mentioned above.
To make things even more confusing... sometimes the letter "P" shortcut DOES work as expected. This is also the case for the letter "i" shortcut as well. I can seemingly make it happen more often if I'm in Safari and then without switching to the Finder first I click-n-hold on a folder on my Desktop right away.
I'm using FinderPop 2.4.3 with Mac OS 10.6.8 (all latest updates) while using a trackpad to do the click-n-hold on a MacBook Pro.

"Clicking in unused menubar area invokes FinderPop" not working for me in 10.6.8. Not sure if this was an issue with previous versions or not because I just now tried it. I clicked the checkmark in the sys prefs and it doesn't work.
UPDATE, oh nevermind, I just had to switch to make the Finder active first since I have Finderpop only working in the Finder. Sorry!

There's many times within the same folder I prefer to either sort "Alphabetically" or by "Modification Date" depending on what I'm looking for within it.
For example, I click'n'hold on a folder to see its contents that I have set the "Sort Items in FP Menus" in the prefpane to "Alphabetically", then it of course sorts that way. But, I'd love it if I held down the "M" key (or something) and then the same folder will sort by modification date if I click'n'hold on it again that way.
Maybe within the fp-info file this could be done? Something like "M-sort-order-mod-date" , "A-sort-order-alpha" ? Or if this could be done on the fly while the contents of the folder are listed, my head would explode.

Now as far as the fp-info file goes. I just experimented in a folder and it works perfect, thank you! I do wish there was an option to see a truncated modification date inline with the list of items without using the modifier, though, like this:

With 2.4.1, if I save Safari bookmarks in a folder then move the file to the Desktop and then back into the folder, FinderPop doesn't launch the bookmark file when I choose it from the folder it's in anymore.
Steps to replicate:
1) Drag Safari bookmark icon to folder on Desktop to create bookmark file in folder.
2) Drag bookmark file out of said folder
3) Change bookmark file label color
4) Drop bookmark back into folder
4) Pull up bookmark by clicking and holding on Folder to invoke FinderPop menu
5) Findpop menu appears, select bookmark.
6) Nothing happens.
You can also drag the bookmark back out again, remove the color label, and then drop it back into the folder and FinderPop will work again with the file and open the bookmark in Safari again.
This is with Mac OS 10.6.8 with no other issues opening files that have labels or otherwise.

Umm, you might be in the wrong thread, this one appears to have been talking about aliases not behaving correctly.
Unfortunately I have never been able to reproduce a slowing down of the Applications folder, with or without Smart Scroll...
Well, either way, I'm happy to report the issue is gone. I haven't tried FinderPop in a very long time, so I just downloaded version 2.4.1 just now and the slowdown issues with the Applications folder is gone. I'm not sure if it's from updating FinderPop or updating Smart Scroll over time or updating my Operating System, but the issue is gone and I'm back to using FinderPop again, thank goodness.

I forgot to mention that one time after installing Adobe CS 5.5 the issue went away temporarily. So whatever the Adobe installer did to the Applications folder, etc. seemed to resolve the issue, but it came back later I guess after a restart or something. It was a long while ago, but I remember being happy the issue was gone after the install, then dismayed when it came back again.
Can you figure out exactly what is slow? Clicking from one app icon to another? Resizing the window? Both? Other Finder operations?
The issue I was having was clicking one app icon to another was very sluggish. Painfully sluggish and this is with the fastest Macbook Pro Apple currently sells. I don't remember if the window resizing was slow for sure, but I don't think so. It did, however, take a long time for the window to close and would beachball. I'm pretty sure it was a bit slower to open as well. Once I turned off Finderpop it was all fast/normal again. There are about 450 icons/folders in there.

turly, I had the issue and I was running SmartScroll as well. All I've done is remove FinderPop and I'm still running SmartScroll now and the issue is gone so I don't know if it was a conflict or not, but hopefully the fact that I was running both might be helpful info for you.

I can confirm this issue with 10.6.7 as well (and with older OS versions). I've been dealing with this for a very long time and trying to troubleshoot this for ages. I finally stumbled upon this thread as it was pointed to from another thread on this issue.
My Applications folder has been slow as molasses on multiple computers for a long time. I finally just now turned off Finderpop and wham... Applications folder speed is back to normal. Ugh... I wish I'd known this a long, long time ago... wasted so much time troubleshooting. I'm just thankful I finally found the culprit.
This has been happening with multiple versions of Finderpop going back at least a year I think, but it's happening with the current version too.
Is there a workaround for this or is the only solution uninstalling Finderpop (which I really don't want to do)?

I click in the menubar and nothing happens with 10.6.6 for me. I tried setting the option and restarted and still not working.

To be able to sort items listed in folders by how I've already set them up in the Finder is pretty much a necessity. In my Library folder, having everything come up by modification date makes Finderpop all but useless, but for my Clients folder, it pretty much has to come up by modification date or THAT makes Finderpop all but useless in that scenario.
I hate having to make that choice. Or, if for some reason there's no way to be able to determine how the Finder is set to display individual folders, is there some way we can maybe tell Finderpop in the preferences or even have it learn our preferences for different folders by holding down a modifier key or something.
It's just such a shame that Finderpop doesn't list my items as I have them listed in the Finder.

Yeah, weird, that does work with aliases. So it seems to be only related to click-n-hold.

Yes, the aliases are still valid and open the originating folders. 2.3.0.3 installed and restarted and still the same problem. Aliases don't work anymore. At least with 10.6.6 anyway.
For now, my clumsy, 2 step workaround is checkmarking 'Add "Contents" submenu if control-clicking a folder' and then I can click-n-hold on the Alias and then I can mouse-over "Contents" and then see the contents of the Alias. But, I'd much rather that be the old one-step process like it was before where Aliases open right up. This workaround doesn't conflict with folders that still work as desired and open right up.

Since I've upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6.6 I've found that aliases don't work with Finderpop 2.3.0 - does one of the newer betas fix this or is it an unknown issue?
I use the Finder Control-free Popup Delay, BTW with "Contents if on folder" checkmarked. Works fine with other folders, but alias open up like as if I right-clicked on them, no Finderpop listing of the folder contents.
I tried reinstalling Finderpop 2.3.0 and no love.

Doesn't show up as 2.2.5 for me. The download is 2.2.6 and it shows 2.2.6 in the about pane. I'm confused. Maybe you need to relabel this thread to 2.2.6?
