contextual menus in dialog boxes?
Turly,

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered before, but I seem to remember contextual menus in dialog boxes hanging off folders in FP in OS 8 or 9?

Can it be done in OS X?

Hmm, I think you're maybe referring to the path popups (eg, when you cmd-click a Finder window's title) and FP's augmenting the standard file open/save dialog boxes? They were only in OS 9. If there's a demand for these features, say so and I'll add them to the list :-)

There's certainly a demand for this feature from me. :)

BTW Turly, just let me say this: if I could only have one third party utility on any of my Macs (either OS 9 or Leopard), it would without a doubt be FinderPop. The most singularly useful utility you can get for your Mac!

Re: contextual menus in dialog boxes?
that would be fabulous!
and I could drop Default Folder and save some overhead to boot...

I'd like to see the path pop-ups return, but I'll be keeping Default Folder regardless ;-)

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but I was formerly a windows user and *loved* DirectFolders. The big advantage was that whenever a dialog window poped up (like an Open or Save box), you could easily use the program to get to a favorite or recently used folder.

It was also really cool because if you already had a window open in explorer (finder) and switched focus to it (perhaps clicked on it) it would automatically move the dialog to be in that same folder. this was SO convenient.

I'm having a hard time transitioning to mac without the capability of more easily navigating the popup dialogs. Would love to see this a feature for this implemented!! Thanks!

Maybe not exactly the same, but when you drag the icon of a folder into a Open/Save dialog, the dialog moves to that folder. If the window is open, you can also drag the icon form its toolbar or title bar.
